That's a lot of data... well done on sorting it out. Little thing but forum seems to be missing title and description fields - see "yourdomain.com" etc above...

so much chatter. :)

perhaps we should tweak the stylesheet with addiscombe colours too. I'll have a tinker on the train tonight.

Another suggestion: within thread subscription email notifications, is it possible to include the subsequent post's content, or a summary?
Think I've seen this on other phpBB based forums.

eg (paraphrasing)

Instead of "The thread 'Which BB?" got a reponse since your last visit - click here to view"
Something like "The thread 'Which BB?" got a reponse since you last visit from Joe: 'Hi mate, you'll be needing a post-2007 DuraRecord...' - click here to view"

Also, currently email notifications come from "marcox2002@gmail"... they used to come from "noreply@addiscombe.org"

Ivor: go ahead, I think you have access to the staging site if you do want to pick up colour values for the gold/dark grey etc from there?

if you're forwarding through their smtp gateway they're probably stamping the reply-to address to that of your "user account" as an anti-spam (/anti-wally) system.
you might need to check their email policies and whether you need to request a change, alternatively try setting a reply-to address explicitly and see if that's all it takes.

Elliot, had a bit of a stylesheet bash...
although it looks like you need to tweak the template pages a bit too if you want decent tweaking:

Hi Marco. I haven't done anything to the live site other than migrate WP stuff across (around 10:30 am today) and forum was fine after that. I have not passed on live site FTP details to anyone else.

I later cleared out a load of files from addiscombegallery.com/addiscombe/ which I assumed were not needed. I was just wondering if it was possible that stylesheets or other code there were still being linked to rather than stylesheets on this server, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I did notice that the site was completely unreachable early eve - there was some sort of status message on the Bluehost site about a server rebuild - and then came back up looking like this.

I'll have a more thorough look at the code now and see if I can track down if the issue points to any particular missing files.

nope nothing to do with me. as far as I'm aware I don't have any such access!
cheers
ivor.

PS. if it helps at all marco, it looks like the same problem we had a while ago where if you switch your user theme to "test" instead of "prosilver" then it all works ok.

Yes that seems to fix it, but not ideal...

I don't know exactly why, but while some basic styles are directly linked static CSS files in phpBB2/styles/prosilver/, the main stylesheet is called via PHP: phpBB2/style.php?sid={session id}, no difference whether you set user style to 'prosilver' or 'test'.

But If you request that style.php file while your user style is set to 'test', you get the CSS back,if it's set to 'prosilver' you get an empty file

Looking in that PHP file, there's a comment:

// This is a simple script to grab and output the requested CSS data stored in the DB
// We include a session_id check to try and limit 3rd party linking ... unless they
// happen to have a current session it will output nothing. We will also cache the
// resulting CSS data for five minutes ... anything to reduce the load on the SQL
// server a little

So the answer mightbe something to do with session ids not being handled correctly...could a server restart affect this? I did wonder if it was a cookie issue but deleting them and logging in again doesn't seem to have helped.

Do you know what "test" is as it seems to still call the same prosilver styles?

It might also be worth checking server logs?

have we got a development copy of the forum installed anywhere that can be played with?
