10am Peaslake Village Stores - here

Leith Hill and it's environs. Fun and frolics throwing mountain bikes at the scenery.

marco-as often you have cleverly not actually indicated whether you'd actually be there

He's the prize in the tombola.

I'll be there anyway and have a coffee and see who turns up. I don't have any plan in mind as I don't know the area that well. I've been enough times that I can probably head up Leith/Pitch/Holmbury and recognise bits as I go though so if no-one of a more knowledgable persuasion turns up then I'll just wing it and ride about, head up for a bit and then there'll be a down or two :D .

Sounds good to me. I'll be on the train arriving in Gomshall at 0953, so expect to reach the village just after 10. If anyone else is planning to get that train and could help stop me getting lost on the way, please let me know.
Brilliant ride, thanks Andrew for organising it.

Thanks for taking us through the trails Marco. I've been there enough times to be able to sort of follow my nose a bit, but would be more a case of stumbling in to things rather than heading to specific trails etc.

A grand day out, about 5 hours up and over Pitch, Holmbury, and Leith hills of gentle climbing on a variety of trails and some good singletrack to lose the elevation. I really like the twists and turns and flicks and little drop offs. Although the big wooooaaahhhh bits like the fag end of Barry's is fun too it's over a bit too quick whereas the longer more gradual ones you can really get in to. Also less chance of brown trowsering it.

How anyone ever descending the Widowmaker on a bike is beyond me. It's a vertical rockface which is hard enough to scrabble up shouldering your bike.
