So many beautiful cats and kitties! I'd have them all if I could!!

Surely though someone can give a loving home to some of these. Please!

If I didn't live in a flat and had a garden, I'd snap the three-legged lurcher up like a shot. I'd change his name just as quickly

I'll sponsor them to run the London marathon dressed as dogs.

Thank you, eveyone, for your comments - at least some of you are taking this seriously. I'm sickened by the fact that some of these animals were just abandoned because their owners needed to cut back on something in the recession

Adrian - I'd have Honey too if I could as well as that lovely lurcher. My mum keeps threatening to get a dog despite Dad's protests but then changes her mind...

CAS also run a cattery and the owner, Barbara, will take in cats that need medication which other catteries will not do. She even had one particularly poorly cat in a spare room in her house. Even my cat quite likes going there now... I'm just not sure the staff appreciate that she's getting better behaved :D

South Godstone RSPCA has some cats/dogs etc too. We just rescued a tabby moggy from there, 6 months old, chipped and snipped. Absolutely adorable. I' d never had a cat before and am amazed at his jumping, balancing etc. Seems to like our guinea pigs too. Might get him a mouse...

I was given a desk calendar with cats for everyday and quotes every now and again. One quote says, "People who don't like cats haven't met the right one yet." and as for people I've met who have ended up with a cat despite not liking them to begin with are soon won over.

My cat loves spiders - not quite sure what she'd make of a guinea pig or a mouse but I'm sure she'd soon get the hang of it :D Though I think she'd be rather fazed by that giant rat they've found in New Guinea

Must say i'm a dog owner and dog lover, i don't dislike cats, just never seen the point of them, dogs protect your property, used to help the blind, sniffer dogs, sleigh dogs, guard dogs, great companions, take them to the park and on walks, what do cats do?

Cats are cool. They show affection when they want something, indifference when they don't, slink off and do their own thing. I must admit, until we got ours I couldn't see the point of them either. Now I am a total convert. And when you watch them stalking something in the garden you realise how lucky we are they're not bigger.
As to what they can do:
