I'll be doing the CR Rob, I wont be racing as I stood on a nail a couple of days ago that went straight into my foot then yesterday I had to go the dentist as I have an infection and the right hand side of my face which has swollen up like David Coutlhards jaw line and is bloody painfull...they say bad things come in threes...whats next, my hair falls out or my left testicle explodes

Divine justice - after all those horrible comments

I can supply the cat scratch if you like - that's if you can find my cat - a rescue too (probably half feral). I would also like to assure people that as a 'flat' cat the only thing she kills are spiders silly enough to come within reach of her paws/claws and the only places she cr*ps is in her litter tray and the carpet when she's stressed or upset over something (quite a lot in fact  ). You need a lot of patience and tolerance with my cat...

Anyway back to the thread - I'll be out for the club run definitely. Hope you're feeling better, Ant, really you do seem to go in for a lot of pain

Unfortunately, got to go to Heathrow tomorrow AM followed by a conference at the church.
Suppose it saves making the difficult choice between:
MTBing on the IOW,
The ClubRun,
The Club RR championships,
Spectating at the TOB.

After missing the CR for 4 consecutive Saturdays, (including 2 club TT's) I hope to be out on 26th. Ride safe and agreeably!

well that was fun!!! First CR for a while. Couldn't get Sam out of the house in time for Coulsdon South so waited at the Feathers in Merstham for an early pint and the arrival of John Czernobay and the 15s. sam's still recovering from knee problems so a gentle ride down to Charlwood was just what the doctor didn't order. :)

Eight of us - John C, Jeff, Graham, a bloke who had a part in captain corelli's mandolin, the bloke that's always late, and a new bloke that commutes from Croydon to Victoria, Sam and myself headed off into deepest surrey. :D

At Reigate common we explained rotation to the new bloke, half hour and the most complicated explanation later (by then even the most harden CR veterans were totally bemused) we were off again. Hardly surprisingly the first 'rotate' caused complete confusion as the poor new bloke attempted to move diagnally from inside position of the second rank to the outside of the first!!

Anyway, things settled down as we managed to get the hang of rotation. The sun started shining and just as we were starting to relax a bloody great big white mad dog went into the attack. Our beautiful shape went to pieces as it was everyman for himself!!!! As his dad and the rest of the bunch sprinted away Sam with his bad knees was left on his own to heroically fight off Snowy. Ahhh bless. :D :D

Eventually John C got our beautiful shape back again. Two lines of cyclist rding side by side. Fantastic. Trouble it that whereas Jeff (who knew the route) on the outside front wanted to turn left, the bloke that's always late on the inside front wanted to go straight on!!! Comedy moment ensued - skilful ACC bike handling ensure we all stayed upright but it was close!!

Somehow we got to the cafe unscathed for chat, coffee and bread pudding. Whereas the rest of the group went home via Box Hill, Jeff, Sam and I rode the usual route home as we had to get home early to get to London for the ToB. Jeff did a brilliant pull at the front the whole way to Redhill whilst Sam and me sat on and enjoyed the ride! :D :D

good fun, good ride, good company. thanks guys! :D

Great club run for me today, just one of hose days when the legs felt great, wish I'd have raced now.

6 of us set out in what was going to be a fastish group. Paul H, Rob W, Nick, Ed, Amy...yes you read that right ...and yours truely. Fairly easy start as Paul didn't wanrt to push to hard due to having health problems in the week. Pace was fairly easy but just that bit much for Amy who dropped off the back at the dreaded dodgy junction. She nearly got back on as we got held up at the various traffic lights but didn't quite make it.

The steps were an easy affair, no one going to mad and thats the way it continued for half of the ride till Ed dropped off the back though wearing a Gore winter jacket that acted as a parachute didn't help. Untill now the work load had been done by Rob, Paul and myself untill Rob started to struggle leaving me and Paul to take it in turns to drag the remainder of the group along. At this point the pace started going up and up as we hit the drag through the trees. Here Rob and Nick dropped off the back as Paul and I kept up the pace and just kept going right to the DC. Paul pushed me quite hard and I rose to the challenge and held my own against him. One thing I like about Paul is he will always give encouragement and gives credit where credit is due when someones going well.

T&O was fun with just 4 of us, good pace and smooth riding. Turning off the DC it all got a bit much for Rob as he started missing turns, poor Nick was long gone by now, suffering with the pace but had done really well today. Paul and I just kept trading places at the front untill thesprint where I tried to urge rob into hitting 1000 watts on his shiney new power tap but even though his heart was in it his legs gave up. Good giggle at the cafe as we ripped into Rob over his poor form on the way there. Every excuse in the book came out, wrong kind of wind, sticky tyres, couldn't get on the big ring, hard ride yesterday :D

Left the cafe a few minutes later than everyone else so with Paul and co it tow I dug in hard and chased for a few miles doing all the work till we caught them and passed them. I didn't realise Rob wasn't with us, sorry Rob, thought you left the cafe with us, maybe you were to busy looking at your power metre

Usual stop to regroup before the mad last dash back to CSS. A great CR, good workout, good banter and good weather. Don't you just love days like this.

Thanks Ant but you didn't look after me like you promised!

Next time, I'm requesting that one of you lot give just a bit of a push to get me over those little lumps. After I'd got over the junction, I thought 'damn it, I should asked them to wait a little bit and then I might've stayed up until the steps when I definitely expect to be left for dead...'.

But you'll have to admit that I'd warmed up by the ride home - and as for the 18s, as Mike I has observed in another thread, they weren't hanging around. My average rose from 17.2mph when I joined them at Reigate Common to 18.8mph by the time I got to the cafe.

Hence my reasons for suggesting the reinstatement of the 20s and 21s

What???? I kept checking on you and dragging you back up to the others, you gave up at the M23 junction. I did my best, honest gov :D The pace did pick up and we averaged 22mph to the cafe. My whole ride average stayed the same. I thought you did well esp on the way back, good to see you've got some strength back.
