MTB Ride this Sunday 20th Sept

Postby higg » Fri Sep 18, 2009 1:11 pm

I've just checked the cyclocross calender and it looks like this will be the last Sunday ride that I will do for a few weeks. (There will be some Saturday ones though)

10am at East Croydon Station ?

Box Hill loop unless anybody else has some better ideas.

Thanks for the ride and showing me one or two trails around the warlingham / woldingham area.

Looking forward to seeing someone ride down the wall of death.

I thought it was about time I bought a mountain bike, instead of talking about it. Got a good deal off the internet, after getting a bit of advice from Serge.
First proper ride off road, it was good fun and useful getting bits of advice from the other guys. Yes I'll be up for a ride wherever. You can probably guess that I won't be entering any downhill events.

London League round 4 on 11th October at Strood has been cancelled. You could do an MTB ride that day instead?

I've just returned to the dirty side and bought 2nd hand mtb. I was wondering how to fit mtb in with cyclocross so thanks for providing perfect answer....is 11 Oct on for mtb ride then? I could only do the morning though as I'm helping at the Bec Hill Climb which starts at 2pm....any chance of mtb ride heading that way?

We could do that.

Where is the Bec Hill Climb venue?

Ride (offroad) to the venue.
Eat some food while watching the carnage/laughing at the gurning.
Ride home.

Sounds good, I'd popped a note on a sep thread started by Marek about doing the catford and bec - I am very happy to help organise and promote, I'd need assistance with the route but I think it would be cool if we could manage both :) I don't know where the catford one is (yet) but v familiar with Bec - that's near Titsey hill out from Selsdon towards...Westerham?? Sure we can figure a good route out that way

More later

Sounds like a plan then, let's make it official, there will be an MTB ride to the Bec Hill Climb on 11 Oct.

When does the hill climb start/finish ? From memory, it is in the afternoon so might be a later start than normal from East Croydon, maybe 11.00 or 12.00.

PS Tamar, congratulations on the "new" bike, but what is it ? details ?

[quote]Previously weve started at 10 (plus a bit !) and got there for 1.45ish after a good and varied ride.

I agree with Marco. IMHO a 10 o'clock (plus the bit for Marco to get out of bed  ) kick-off, allows for a bike ride plus the Bec Hill Climb, rather than just cycling to the destination. It's worked well in the past 8)

I'm up for this ride on the 11th October, to include watching the hill climb.

Can we get the thread title changed, so that other's know about this mountain bike ride.
