His apology 'only' on BBC website? (Pretty wide circulation there). To me, it reads like the complete and frightened climbdown facesaving attempt of someone who knows he's been a complete and utter t*sser.

You can read his full diatribe here:

No you can't, as it's been edited to remove the bit about running the cyclists into the hedge (which was however probably made up)
Oh thanks Elliot when I re read his rather clumsy uninspiring piece I was perhaps thinking we were in danger of taking ourselves to seriously and not having a sense of humour. I'm sure plenty of drivers hate us and think we look weird in our gear and thats OK. Its the knocking us down or perceived threat of knocking us down I naturally have a big problem with.  Anyway he's so unoriginal jumping on the cyclist hating band wagon. He's probably only ever had a couple of cyclists rightly give him a ticking off for risky/dangerous driving maneuvers and he makes it sound like its and everyday event.

Anybody fancy applying to be a guest on Saturday Kitchen, then turning up dressed as Spiderman?

The late Keith Floyd summed up Martin and his "celebrity chef" ilk perfectly the other night on "Keith meets Keith".

No, I was referring to the fact that the BBC is his employer, and that his need to stay in front of the camera is greater than his willingness to stand by his comments.

You can still read the full text for this on Bike radar. What amazes me with his rant is how many Mail newspaper targets he manages to hit (almost literally)
1. Cyclists
2. Herbal tea drinkers
3. Harriet harman voters
4. Poncy city boys
Although I cant see 2 and 3 being 4.
If he had included single mums and immigrants that would have been all the Mails bogey men in one go.
Driver charged for splashing school kids

A female motorist is facing court action for deliberately driving through a puddle and splashing a group of school children.

She has been reported for careless driving and a file is being sent to the Crown Prosecution Service.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police told Sky News Online: "Deliberately splashing people by driving through a big puddle could mean that the motorist was driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.

How is this different, in terms of intent, from what James Martin did?

Different rules for some people :? :? :?

I thought the conclusion of that tale was that James Martin just made up the story to liven up his boring writing and try to sound "interesting". All a bit sad.

I didn't hear that any cyclists ever came forward with any complaint.

I don't think that the kids made a complaint in this case they got it from the woman who was driving which is what James Martin did i.e admitted guilt..

To be honest I'm with James on this one. That jersey is shocking.

Now, what to wear for the ACC RR

You mean to say you are going on a club run Sean? :o
