11th October Catford Hill Climb Ride, Alp D'Huez of Kent

Hello Guys and Gals,

I am organising a ride from East Grinstead that is going to head out over to Yorks Hill to watch the Catford Hill Climb event. This is the oldest bike race in the world and basically it is a horrible steep hill that riders TT up one after the other. The hill is narrow and steep and there are hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists lining the hill cheering on all the hardy souls willing to have a go.

If you fancy joining me in East Grinstead then I intend to depart the town centre from outside the old Cinema on King Street at 9.30am. Will ride over to Yorks Hill and have a cuppa and sausage from Big Willys Sausage Van, watch the event and then ride back via a scenic route taking in a couple of hills on the way back in the spirit of the hill climb. Let me know if you fancy coming along. If you want to drive down to East Grinstead then PM me and I can let you know places to park.

Am sure there will be a group departing from Coulsdon South Station going over to watch as well which I would encourage someone to organise, if so then I will see you at Yorks Hill.

Cheers

Marek.....

Still got time to get your entry in Marek. The Catford and the Bec, which is in the afternoon on White Lane off Titsey, are both fantastic events with a very special atmosphere. I can't recommend these enough as races to watch.

As a shyclist par excellence, I can thoroughly recommend the Bec Hill Climb, both as a spectator and a rider. Great fun. Marek - I like this idea, I will check the diary and see if I can gat a pass to do a CSS start spectator ride, nice one. Back soon.

As you can see from these pics, it's a doddle this hill climbing lark

I'd be up for this one Marek. Pending any emergencies or double-bookings I'll see you in Grinstead for a slog over the Downs!

Just thought I would bounce this one up for those that are towards the EG area. At the moment I think we have about 10 or so riders of mixed ability coming along, might be more, so should be a good ride, am looking forward to seeing some serious pain being inflicted by the hill, it really is a toughie, went up it last weekend, just.

Cheers
