SCCU Lunch

Postby Jon H » Fri Sep 11, 2009 1:49 pm

Southern Counties Cycling Union annual luncheon.
Sunday 1st November 2009
Rowfant House, Rowfant, Crawley, west Sussex
12 noon for 1pm
Tickets from Graham Bristow, £20 each

Was quite a good do last year, with as much pie as it was physically possible to eat.
As we've won the Rawson shield again, I guess we'd better put in an appearance to collect it. Who's interested?

Ah the pie eating contest, yes I remember it well :D .

May well pop along for seconds. I remember it was a more relaxed/scruffy do than I expected with a few folk cycling there. May do that myself.

The chicken pie is back on the menu this year  I helped vote it in @ last SCCU committee mtg, burp!

I may well go along to celebrate my fantastic set of SCCU dnfs  still at least they were worth a few points.

We need to sharpen up a bit if we wanna keep the fireguard next year y'all.

I've decided to go to this rather than do a Brighton run with the veteran cars as I'm doing the night cyclo-cross at Herne Hill the night before.

Who else is going? I'm going to ride there if anyone's up for a few winter miles either side of their grub. Look sthe perfect place for my DJ Jersey :D .

Sent my booking form off yesterday. Will ride if the weather's OK, possibly train back if the beer's OK.

Andrew. Don't apply for a ticket mate, you and Rob RE are going to be invited to collect the rawson. Seeing as the news is in the paper I thought it OK to post it here now 8)

Andrew was a DNS in today's pie-eating contest, so it was down two contestants; myself and Rob, with Joyce sitting between us to ensure fair play.

1 all after the first round (soup for Rob, pate for me).

3 all after the second round (chicken and mushroom pie followed by lamb for me, wheras Rob took the pile it all on the plate together approach)

Rob took a comprehensive victory in round 3 by demolishing two helpings of bread and butter pudding and custard followed by 3 of pavlova, outdoing my 1 and 2 portions by some margin.

Oh, and they awarded some trophies too.
