[quote="Rob W"]Going down Reigate hill the other day,i was just touching about 30mph when my front wheel started wobbiling and it just got worse as i went down the hill.I just managed to bring myself to a stop before crashing.I have knowen this to happen before on the same bike.Wheels and everything seem to be ok.So the question is what the hell is going on.It was like trying to steer with a jelly wheel.
Right - this happened on a bike I used to own - a Dolan, and it damn near killed me more than once. It can be down to a number of things, in my case i discovered that the stem had a hairline crack along its length on the underside which was barely detectable to the naked eye.
It's bloody frightening and could kill you as you can't steer so get it looked at - if it happens before you get it looked at you can save yourself by locking both knees tightly against the top tube and using the brakes like ABS - ie on/off on/off in rapid short bursts to control your speed - if you feather the rear brake, ie hold it slightly on, the problem gets MUCH WORSE and you're going down dude!
