Minoura 1200 is what I have got and it is pretty good, quite quiet.

Get a Goretex jacket and some warm clothing. A turbo trainer won't teach you how to handle your bike.

I use a Minoura too - well made and all that. As for the boredom - I thought that TTs were what the PS2 was invented for!!

I have a fairly basic (magnetic) Tacx unit and it is very boring to use, so it rarely gets unfolded. I wouldn't waste money on one with a handle bar resistance adjuster. Mine has one and it doesn't fit oversize bars, just change gear.

Make sure you've got a good cycling DVD on when you start.

right.. so the consensus is that Turbo's are the worst thing in the world...

So should i just get some lights and grind around Richmond pack once or twice a week in the pitch black!?

opinions please

and Rob what is your Turbo and how much would you like for it?

Why not join a gym and use their bikes?
My gym has a fine selection of lycra clad totty to view whilst pedalling away. Train and leer at the same time. Well worth the monthly fee!!
Much better than the garage.

Tim, I think Richmond Park in winter is quite dangerous, even with bright lights.
I remember Ramon coming a cropper when he had a collision with a badger.
I think a crew from Twickenham trained there on a regular basis last year, it may be better to hook up with them, I cannot for the life of me remember what nights or what time they meet.

Why not try before you buy? You can borrow mine for a couple of weeks or so if you want. It should help you know what you do/don't want.
