Cycling against the car culture

Postby Mulberry » Mon Nov 16, 2009 6:00 pm

We all know that we take risks when cycling on the road in traffic and that many car drivers regard us a hindrance or a annoyance at best and sometimes as a target! A lot of this could be attributed to the whole "car-culture" which pervades in the UK far more than in most of Europe. The link below provides an eloquent and well-informed commentary on this backed up with strong legal arguments from a lawyer.

It's worth reading and I have to admit I wasn't very surprised to see the first legal case quoted featured the A23 from the Saturuday CR!!

What an informed commentary. Pity the facts leave us without much optimism that we'll get a fair deal. I have posted a comment on cyclingsilk's excellent blog.

Good spot Marcus, thanks for posting the link - this is useful to me. As interesting as the piece is, it may benefit from some editting, in the words of Joe Strummer, f***ing long, innit. I wouldn't normally soldier on that far, but I wanted to see Mr  sr's input :)

Cheers - Snoop
