Quick Google came up with a reference to a German test that found the light output of the DX 'Magicshine' to be similar to that of a Lupine Tesla (£247.99 at Evans). Both were 550-600 lumens, which is well down on the claimed 900 (Lupine claims 700 for the Tesla), but it still makes the Magicshine fantastic value for money. Combining it with my Cree Q5 bike light will give me over 700 lumens to see by

The version I ordered comes with a helmet mount and a UK charger. Apparently there's been huge demand (understandably!), which is why I'm anticipating a few weeks' wait.

Cheers for a good ride peeps. Got a slow puncture but as I only live down the road, thought i'd nurse it home rather than mess about in the dark.
Got back ok so no probs!

Have decided that mountain biking through the woods at night and road commuter lights don't mix!

Thanks marco for organising. Good fun. Now I have to look up on the map and try to figure out where we went.

Although riding back to Burgh Heath was less fun - I'd forgotten about the headwind. Should've taken the advice to have a pint and wait for the train.
