Club Run 21/11 - Who's Coming?

Postby mlocke » Fri Nov 20, 2009 2:38 pm

Last week was a bit of a washout with just four of us at CSS (swelling to a massive 6 @ the cafe).

Tomorrow morning doesn't look too bad - you guys coming out to play in the puddles? ?

Bikes are made for riding, not looking at!

mmmm nice pics

I will be out. Its a bit weird but I actually quite like riding in the rain, so long as I'm not too cold.

might fit some mudgards too!

I should be out tomorrow for a 18s or something steady.

I don't like the wind or rain much but I hate the turbo even more.

I may be there...all depends on the weather, if its lashing down I'll leave Hal to enjoy is while I sulk around the house moaning about the weather.

I really like the look of the latest Viner. I have an old one and really like it, but the new one looks awesome. I was thinking about getting it and putting into a frame to hang on the wall, do you think I should buy a small size or one that I could actually ride, I am having trouble deciding. Also, do you think that a carbon fibre case is going a bit ott?

Cheers

24k gold, now I bet this is a fantastic ride. Hmmm, now not sure whether I would leave this outside the cafe, also, this would be much better enclosed in a gold plated frame.

Cheers

Good club run today and was worth the effort.

Although I came a box of tricks (Duffieldism ?) at the lights near East Croydon station trying to negiotate the tramlines. Front wheel slipped out on the metal and I landed on my side. There was a car behind but luckily they were on the ball and stopped well in advance and even asked if I was ok. I was more shocked when that happened to be honest.

Went out after in the normal route down to Reigate but continued straight on staying on the A25 road all the way to Box Hill. Robs idea & a good one
We tried a T & O which on the straights worked a treat but round the bends a bit sketchy.

We chucked a left ( you know that one  ) and picked up the Box Hill return route in reverse.
Ant took the sprint he said it was easy. :)
Way home was fast but didn't quite have the legs today.

Cheers.

I hammered it just after we turned left before the plane spotter stretch and just kept it going to the line, I mean if thats not a long enough lead out for you guys to take me then....

Glad your tumble didn't bother you to much Ed and your right in what you say about the different route being a good one, just mixed it up a little bit more.

Rob W was very strong today, I think I was the weakest in our select group of Rob, Ed, Nick, and Grahame O, didn't have the legs today and suffered more on the way back. Still the rain stayed away and even the sun came out for a few mins. Good ride, cheers fellas.

Went with the alternative ride for first time. This was a testing circuit with some hills and lots of hitherto unknown and inviting lanes. It was steady and always waited on hills and turnings. Late on in the ride Mike I had a puncture and they went on to Fanny's Farm but I pushed on to the Charlwood cafe and got there in time for the return! So I went back with the main group. Bridget had her first ever puncture on the way back and then we joined the Nero bunch for much needed sustenance. Nice morning, happily no rain and the different ride is a worthwhile alternative option if you are looking to create a mixture of terrain over the winter months. Thanks Guys

I see Ant has been sandbagging today - weak legs and then wins the sprint

I must do the alternative ride sometime - after all I've been trying to get an alternative cr for ages  Alan, I can't believe you don't know more lanes - Headley is such a lovely area and there's plenty more out there in Surrey and beyond.

Anyway my plan is to keep to the 18s on my winter training bike, maybe move up a group if my legs are up to it. Felt a bit stronger today if still off the pace on the hills so maybe by next spring I'll be flying and when I change back to the Enigma....

Mo, what happened to you? I saw you started with the 18s and it wasn't until someone pointed it out that I realised you weren't there. OK, that someone actually asked me to say a bit more than that but I can't be that mean... I know what it's like to be not as strong as you'd like but it does take hard graft and to push yourself at times... If I can do it, you can 8)

Out doing my own long steady ride this morning, although I rode with the 18's for a while. Nice to say a brief hello to the Shadow, Adam & Dave.

Why not just go out with the 18's? Well in the brief time I rode with you, pace varied from the best part of 300W on the rise past Rusper golf club, to less than 100W two minutes further along the road. This'll be why you feel off the pace on the hills Amy.
