Security lights

On a more serious note, my parents have had two attempted break ins in the last couple of weeks and I have suggested that they fit security lights. Also some bars for the bathroom window.

Can anybody help? I suppose I'd like to get them sorted as soon as possible as I think that might help the situation.

Latest attempt was last night and my mum found 4 men in the garden, one fiddling with the conservatory window and pretending they'd lost a ball I think they are picking on my parents because they are an old couple on their own and the hedge my mum allowed to grow up for privacy means that they are hidden from casual observers.

The police were called on both occasions and seem to be taking it seriously - I think there's been a spate of similar burglaries in the area. I am just so sickened by the fact that they are picking on an elderly couple who really don't have much in the way of what I assume they are looking for and it's just frankly worrying

I fitted one on the front of our house. Fairly simple. I went for a 150W job - the 500W ones can be antisocial when wildlife trigger them. 150W is bright enough to make the point.

Plant roses and holly or other prickly things below windows. Deadlocks on all external doors and hinge bolts on those that open outwards. You don't need to make the place impregnable, just more of a hassle than elsewhere. By definition most burglars are lazy scum so will take the easier option and try somewhere else.
