Regalinos now Nonna Rosa's

Postby Keith » Sun Dec 06, 2009 9:06 am

Below are a couple of messages from the new owners of what was Regalinos. They open next week, and are offering a "a free coffee to all your members on your first visit back to prove our claim."

Dear Sir/Madam,

Following on from our previous email, due to a delay in the arrival of an important piece of equipment, we are forced to move the opening date of Nonna Rosa's Cafe Delicatessen to Monday 7th December 2009.

Our offer of a free coffee on your first visit will of course still stand and we look forward to welcoming you as regular customers from then on.

If you would like any further information about Nonna Rosa's and what we have to offer, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Grazie arrevederci

Katharine and Angelo Conte

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are contacting you as the new owners of the shop formerly known as 'Il Regalino' of which we understand you were loyal customers. We are a first time family business and Coulsdon locals, who recently made the decision to open a Cafe/Deli after being left unimpressed with the 'Chain' coffees and sandwiches left on offer in town.

We believe that we will have the best quality coffee in town by some margin and would like to welcome you and the cycling club back with a free coffee to all your members on your first visit back to prove our claim. While you're here, you may also like to try one of our delicious freshly made sandwiches - either from our range of Traditional Italian Panini menu or your own choice of fillings. We will also be serving hot Italian snacks and mouth watering patisseries to help re-energize from your ride.

If everything goes to plan, we hope to open 'NONNA ROSA'S' on Saturday 5th December and would love the opportunity to sit down and have a coffee with you all.

Grazie arrevederci,

Katharine & Angelo Conte

Sounds good to me. I would rather support a local shop than a soulless corporate like neros. Lets just hope the coffee is a decent standard.

Decent standard Rob? We are a club that endures the instant coffee and dunk and dipped brewed tea of the Pine "Cafe". Even if they served up Waitrose economy instant coffee it will be a "decent" standard, but I doubt whether they would survive very long. Oddly, Charlwoodians seem a lot easier to please, or does the Expresso machine come out from under the counter once we have left?

[quote]Espresso is a NECESSITY and as such it must be consumed normale or ristretto on a patio (preferably in Italy) in full kit; All other coffee shall be brewed strong and taken BLACK. The only milk permitted may appear frothed on top (if at all). The euro cyclist shall, if possible, develop a fondness for the triple ristretto. For extra Euro, consider ordering inconvenient multiples (e.g. a triple or more). The irony of increasing the number of shots pulled while simultaneously decreasing the volume per shot will win enhance the experience for all parties involved. Sugar is FROWNED UPON, and in all cases SWEETENERS ARE BANNED

The only acceptable accompaniment is a thin square or two of dark chocolate of at least 85% cocoa content.

It was open today when I rode past and, this being December, there were people sitting outside (although that could be because they were scared to go in)

I'm not certain that I'm happy endorsing a business named "Granny Pink"

Update after today's clubrun — the coffee is excellent. Had a double espresso on the way out, and a cappucino on return and both were free (once only offer!) There were over a dozen of us there after the run. Food menu looks good too.
