back home now, op went well (it was a proper knee surgeon not dr laser), still stiff & swollen, need the crutches but have to do very little for a few days. gonna be about 6 weeks till i can pedal a bike in anger, but should be able to do some light exercise in 3.

:D Great to hear that the op went well. :D

Just consider it an extended rest period after a long hard season. Doubt you'd have been doing much training in the ice and snow anyway!

i'm only just starting to be able to walk further than round the block, but still with crutches. will likely focus on cycling only once i can get going again, to make up for the lost time. have put back on the 4kg i lost in the summer already. thing is it doesn't take very long to get used to the couch potato lifestyle, i don't even know if i want to go through all the training stuff again next season.

i had some swelling of the pat pad that sits below the kneecap and is there to cushion from impacts, which caused it to catch, and also some cartilage damage to be smoothed off.

tell me about it mate. I'm now 5Kg over weight. On the plus side I've been able to catch up with a few friends/family members and carry out a few more unpaid work projects. My training start day was December 16th. I rode the turbo on three day consecutively - 16th, 17th and 18th. I went to a christmas party on the 19th and prompty got the flu. I'll start again on boxing day I think

Want to place a bet on that? Want to place a bet on you coming back from this as a better rider than you were before? :D
