Oops!!!

Broke my toe last night  and was wondering if anyone has experienced this, and how long were they off the bike?

I walked straight into an oak bench leg, bare footed and at a good speed . It hurt just a tad, so much that the doctor at the hospital had to peel me off the ceiling after he squeezed the obviously broken digit   . Why do they do that

No alcohol was involved in this incident :D - no honestly.

I broke mine when a piano ran over it (don't ask) Wasn't cycling back then but took 6 weeks or so to heal properly.

A piano  , no best not ask I suppose. 6 weeks :( :(, I really hope it doesn't take that long. As cycling shoes are stiff Im hoping there will be very little pressure put on any one toe.

Was help someone move house and an upright piano just started to roll off the pavement, I got infront of it to try and stop it and it trapped my big toe...bloody hurt...

You might be alright Steve, it really hurt for a week trying to walk then could hobble around ok but as you say with cycling shoes there'll be less pressure plus if its as cold as it was today when we were out you won't feel your toes after a few miles anyway

oof sounds like that would reach silent scream levels.

Feet are quite intricate, lots of small bones and flexibility, so I'd follow the Docs advice even if it means longer off the bike than you'd like. Very important just as part of everyday life and mobility so best to let it fix properly to avoid any potential problems further down the line.

You might be able to do some light gear turbo spinning to stop yourself getting too lardy with Christmas eating, but it might drive you mad and feel like kicking something.

Kick back with a nice bottle of red, some chocolate Santas and mince pies, and let the family organise Christmas for you. You might not get a chance like this again :D .

Didn't Apples have a toe/washing-machine/football-in-kitchen incident a year or two back? I'm sure he could advise.

On the, er, bright side, I did some damage (not involving a fracture) to my finger at the ACC picnic back in August and it's nearly better.

Bust my small toe once and that took me around 5 weeks to get back to anything normal. Getting on shoes was the biggest problem.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
