My suggestion was serious, but in keeping with Adam's idea, I would be happy to go second claim as that would mean I would easily win the trophy, might annoy young Adam, but am sure his ego could handle the beating.

Cheers

[quote="Paul H"]Doesnt that go against the principles of sportives?

I expect your tongue is firmly in your cheek Paul. They aren't races, although tell that to some that do them  , and I wasn't suggesting that the winner is the fastest time in a set sportive. It was more a thought along the lines of a committee vote, some of the road race trophies are done in this manner. If there was a tough event that was done in sh1t weather then the rider that did that could beat someone for being in the top 10 in another event, or an older rider who went through more pain and suffering than most younger riders will do in any year just to be able to finish. Or it could be the person who did the most, could vary from year to year depending on who did what. Just a thought .

Another option, although there are already a lot of TT trophies so perhaps not a favourite with some, could be a points based system over all the club 10s and based off of handicap rather than scratch.

Best example of "Brit abroad" behaviour while on a training camp.

On a serious note... well sort of...

The Club Road Race does not currently have a trophy, why make up a category when there is a ready made one going wanting?

Of course that still doesn't help me, as 2nd claimers can't take trophies blah blah blah... But surely whoever is crowned ACC RR Champ should get a trophy on top of the usual pile of goodies supplied by various companies' foolish marketing budgets... er I mean Cycling Weekly :P

Because making up categories makes for a more interesting thread.

Reading the above and stealing ideas. I'd create a trophy called the "Addiscombe Clubman Trophy" or something similar. It would be a season long and you'd get points for wearing the club colours.

i.e 5 points for completing a timetrial, road race, sportive, cyclocross, moutain bike event etc

You'd also get the same points for marshalling . I'd then think of some sort of bonus point scheme for placings and beating a PB etc

Good thinking Ben. I'd certainly back that idea. A general 'Good Clubperson' trophy. I'm sure Mr Nonna Rosa would, too. :D

Thanks Roy. I've stolen most of these ideas but always happy to take credit.

From an admin point of view, you'd could put limits or maximum points you could gain from each category. Or you build a fixture list, stating which events are deemed part of the trophy etc.

And 50 points for most cake eaten at the cafe.
