So, Pukka Pies sponsored the recent UK Open snooker champs and promised to award the winner his weight in pies (as well as £100,000)
Ding Junwhi won it but as he tips the scales at a miserly 71kg, concealed a full set of snooker balls in his coat at the weigh-in in order to consolidate the maximum amount of pies. This blatant act of cheating was discovered by the tournament organisers but Ding was awarded the extra pastry and meat as he revealed that said pies were being donated to a charity (presumably not one where eating disorders are prevalent) of his choice.
70's giant of the sport, Canadian Bill Werbeniuk was said to be furious that a) "We never had prizes like that in my day" and b) the pies were given away rather than consumed on the spot at the awards ceremony.
