  Anthony - I think Sean was looking for sensible replies

Your hard drive is probably full up with bike porn.

Removing the battery will reboot it. You may want to do a system restore if it continues to play up.

p.s. what happened to the industrial vacuum cleaner post? Its disappeared

Sean - These guys http://www.pctechcentre.co.uk/ down teh road from me are pretty good I think, certainly seem to do good business and have been there a while now in a location where little shops have come and gone lately. When I've popped in there for odds and sods or with a question they've been helpful.

Marcus - By choice I would probably go for a Mac and have had an iMac and iBook in the past, well still have the iBook. Personally I think PCs and Macs have merged a bit of late so that both have taken good ideas of others rather than have their own silly little infighting. My iBook still works a treat but as it's got an old G3 processor in it I can't upgrade the OS to the later versions which means some things - such as iplayer - are compromised. I went for a PC simply because they are cheaper for what I need it to do these days and Windows 7 was well reviewed.
