So, with a view to avoiding any mishaps on the snow and ice, I've not been riding to work for a bit, but rubbing shoulders with the Great Unwashed on the Northern Line. I slipped on ice on my way to the tube station and ended up on my ar$e.

Yesterday, with the thaw well and truly underway, I got the bike out. I managed to find Clapham's Biggest Pot-hole (it was well hidden under a puddle), which by way of revenge launched me head-first onto the tarmac. The helmet is cracked, the head a bit scratched, which is better than the other way round.

Next week, I'm taking the safe option and going on a club-run with The Shadow.

Some of the pothles are huge, like man traps...waiting in disguise for the poor unsuspecting cyclist....prentending to be a small innocent puddle untill you cross its path then WALLOP...its got you...evil things.

ps Steves not doing the club run this week, he's teaching shark wrestling, safer option and he'll get less stick about it if anyone gets injured

You're in the money.Fill those compensation forms in now before apathy sets in. Baring in mind of course that the rest of us will be paying for it when the Council Tax goes up.

I hear that when warm, dry SAFE road conditions return, Steve is concerned that the level of concentration in his club-run group might drop, leading to further accidents, so he's introducing a new element to keep the attention focused... BLINDFOLDS!

So you're now sore top to bottom Mike, some of the roads are hideous at the moment. As Mr. Looney says you could lose someone my size in some of them, I'm adding a grappling hook to my saddlebag.
