Hello All
I understand you meet at South Coulsdon on Saturday mornings. Do you have a planned ride for this Saturday? Presumably it depends on weather.
Thanks

Spud, welcome to the biggest and friendliest club in the South. Every Saturday there is a meet at CSS from 9am, but as you already mentioned it is weather dependent. Saying that, it has to be pretty bad for some of the die hards not to go out, but you will find a lot less venturing out if the weather is bad. On the other hand if you have a MTB bike there is always that group who head off in all sorts of conditions. Best thing to do is keep an eye on this forum as most of the info on club rides is posted here.

Welcome :D

What Rob said really, just keep an eye out on here if you can, even if the B roads are a still a bit dodgy a few of us stick to the A roads down to the cafe for tea and cake.

Are you new to cycling?

Thanks lads.
I went out most Saturdays last year alternating between off road , mainly Dorking, and road. I have a Marin commuter that has given me pretty good service up to now and is quite comfy to ride but recently I put a deposit on a Boardman that I'm looking forward to getting out on.
Your right Sean , spud is daft. Its a left over from from another forum. How can I change it?

Hello!

Welcome to the ACC!

Good choice on the Boardman - what one did you get/order?

Hope to see you out and about on the club run!

If you want a quick way to meet alot of people and enjoy a brilliant meal then join us this saturday evening at the annual dinner... a great way to put names to faces and have a laugh! (although be warned people look SOO different without helmets!)

Welcome to the club Lee.

I'm getting a bit fed up of keep getting chilly and/or wet and cleaning a ton of cr@p off of bikes so at the approriate time will probably just make another cup of tea and put a few rashers of bacon in the frying pan. If you are thinking MTB then expect boggyness, when I rode to pilates on Wednesday I did part off road and the trail down Coombe Rd by the tram line was a tad sloppy to say the least, and that was before I got to Cottagers' Car Park  .

I'll go for a ride on Sunday and then start up properly next week when hopefully the weather will start behaving itself a bit and not burying the roads around me in snow and ice :( .

I spent probably two months investigating bikes and in the end settled on the Boardman Team Carbon . I thought of the Comp but most people seem to upgrade after two or three years so I saved up a few extra quid which I hope is the right decision. The wife isn't aware yet that I've spent that sort of money which is why the bike is under a cover. If I turn up on a ride with a tooth missing you'll know she wasn't happy.

It's always the right decision to go that extra couple of quid. You appreciate the extra quality long after the extra cost has been forgotten.

A mate of mine has the cunning strategy of upgrading his bikes with ones of the same colour to keep the missus in the dark, so his blue anodized Santa Cruz Superlight became a blue Turner 5 spot. Sadly I would need the spinning skills of Alisatair Campbell to convince mine that my orange/black Lemond Buenos Aires is actually no different from the polished titanium/carbon Victoire I have my eye on.
Ditto if you see me in need of reconstructive dentistry.

She went out last night so I brought the bike indoors to set the saddle to height etc . She came home a bit early and spotted the bike. That looks expensive she said, then gave me the cats bum disapproving thing that women are quite good at. She decided that she needs a new pair of jeans which I was hardly in a position to argue with, and if it means not using a straw to eat with I may have got of lightly.
