Hi, Probably havent missed too much cycling but have only achieved some spinning sessions here but am beginning to cultivate a friendship with local mountain bikers who may rent me a bike soon.

I am at about 8500 feet and still feel the effects after more than a week in the hills. Days are sunny in the morning heading up to about 21C and raining some afternoons and about 10C at night, but OK. I am in a valley surrounded by mountains on all sides. Thanks, the group of cyclists I mentioned I think I will maybe work with them and try and lever some international support for their emerging club.

How much cycling / exercise are you getting in and how does the altidude affect you You should be flying when you get back in March.

So far i have only done spinning at the gym. I think i have decides not to buy a bike as they really are not up to the mountains. I have walked a fair bit but interestingly excersising at altitude is difficult as shortness of breath prevents a full workout. I am losing a bit of weight so maybe that will help. I will probably try and assist the cyclists here and maybe help them find some modest sponsorship. Incredibly I got roped onto doing a 10 monute live TV interview on why Cajamarca is good for cyclists. I did it in Spanish which was a bit of an ask!
