Egg attacks

Postby Conor Cormican » Mon Oct 31, 2005 10:29 pm

Anybody get pelted tonight while cycling home? I was attacked twice, both completely unprovoked. Luckly I was only hit once from behind, I didn't stop because it was quite a large gang of yobs. The second time the egg was thrown from behind a fence so didn't see how many were involved. I'm just interested to know if this a common occurence at this time of the year and what can one expect on Guy Fawkes night?

My wife came home crying and bruised last night after a gang of 'kids' (aged 15 and upwards) pelted her with eggs as she cycled back home about 9pm. They may have done it for a laugh, but she was frightened and shaken. And eggs thrown hard hurt.

I guess the only thing to do is avoid the quieter streets and turn back if you see a bunch of likely-looking people.

Thanks, mate. It happened in St Matthew's Road in Brixton. It runs in between and parallel to Brixton Hill and Effra Road, both of which my wife tries to avoid on a bike cos it's too dodgy traffic-wise. Seems you jist cain't win!

Just coincidence ? I got the same treatment on the way home last night although it was only one egg and I think it bounced off the foam on my backpack shoulder strap and broke on the ground.

More worrying though, somebody was setting off fireworks horizontally across the green at Figg's Marsh (Mitcham) in the direction of the road. Looks fairly dramatic, wouldn't want to be in the way though.

Perhaps we can thank our friends from across the 'pond' for the whole trick or treat thing which now seems to have got out of control. (I never remember it being this bad)

Although we think that we have it bad, hospitals over there offer a free x-ray service on halloween so that you can check whether anybody has put razor blades or needles in you kids sweets!!!!!!
