Hilly 50 2010!! 6th March

Postby Amy » Sat Jan 23, 2010 8:56 pm
vertiginous ascents and precipitous descents - none of it makes sense, but people do it every year. Defy reason and take part in the ride known as 'The Most Ridiculous of all the Classics'. The start is at Ryka's car park 10a.m. 6th March 2010.

elite riders finish in a tad under two hours. Tourists can take three and a half hours. Our handy guide, available from fnrttc@yahoo.co.uk or ctc.cheammorden@virgin.net gives details of the route. For those of you not familiar with the North Downs there are six hills - one of which rates a single chevrons, and another garners two chevrons. See those folk walking.....

entry £3 on the line - pre-entry via ctc.cheammorden@virgin.net for the bargain basement rate of £2. Free e-certificate for all those daft enough to want one.

Mark Leedham asked me about this today - so here we are! (Whooops, I think the cat nearly fell off the storage heater...)

The first time I introduced ACC riders to this event, there was an awful lot of complaints afterwards  Can't think why, it does what it says on the tin  Lots of them still seem to want it do every year though.

Ant, I know you'd love it

Info, email contacts including online pre-entry email contact(although not needed), and route card to download and print in advance can be found on the Blog.

In short though to back up what Amy says it's a great ride, you don't really need to do anything other than be at Ryka's at about 9.30 on 6th March. The route does cover a lot of very narrow lanes and the surfaces can be a bit iffy in places so if you have a spare pair of winter/training wheels then put them on your bike, trust me some of the lanes aren't for taking your best wheels down.

If it's saturday the 6th March. That's the same day as the triandrun Spring Ballbuster.

Worth noting they keep the zig zag road closed to traffic until 12 ( I think ), incentive to finish fast.
