Cycling Weekly wants YOU...

Postby Andy » Tue Jan 26, 2010 5:42 pm

Hi,

I'm Andy, Addiscombe member and Cycling Weekly journalist. Haven't been out on the club run at all in recent years as I've been up in York for the past few years, but I'm back for good in Croydon now...

Re the title, Cycling Weekly does want you, albeit not in a scary Lord Kitchener way.

The mag is doing a training feature and I'm looking to find a well-rounded (lifewise) rider who:
-has specific goals e.g. racing/a particular sportive
-has a regular job and has to fit training and riding around it
-preferably sees cycling as a close third, priority-wise, to work and family.

It would involve having a quick chat with me, plotting out your 'week in training', gleening your own advice for getting in riding around a busy schedule and the like.

In the (big) likelihood that we don't have your photo, it would also involve coming into the CW offices in cycling kit for your own dashing close-up photo etc.

So register your interest; I'll check back tomorrow and make a decision.

Best,
Andy

Well that's me out the running then :D

Though in all seriousness I'll put my name forward. I need a jolt up the backside to get me going again and start aiming towards my 2nd cat licence before I hang my wheels up from racing.

Not sure if me training for the Dragon Ride and Lonodn to Paris would have queues forming at the newsagents, but I'll put my name forward also.

does well rounded mean has way too much to do to fit everything in without there being 8 days in a week or 36 hours in a day?

[quote]-has specific goals e.g. racing/a particular sportive

running two marathons which has stuffed up planning this year but intend to get my TT times down from a disappointing last year.

[quote]-has a regular job and has to fit training and riding around it

"city" hours and commute down to surrey tends to leave little room for anything else.

[quote]-preferably sees cycling as a close third, priority-wise, to work and family.

family, then work, then cycling.... although I'd replace the work with cycling in a heartbeat if the work didn't pay for the bikes and the mortgage.
