Have heard rumours of a ride following/drafting with the car rally.

1.Is this true?
2.Is this a 17mph group?
3.Are we riding Back?
4.What time we leaving?
5.And where are we meeting?

I understand from Paul Tunnell that there will be a ride, quote from Paul's email:-

"will be leaving CSS at 9:00am sharp and heading down the A23 with the Veteran cars

Please come prepared, check the weather forecast and wear suitable clothing. Will not ride if it is really wet or raining. Suggest some food in pockets, although will stop by the pier for a bite to eat.

It is quite feasible to ride down and train back as the station is nearby and frequent trains to East Croydon etc.

Estimated return time is 4:00pm at CSS, so you may need lights.

I do not expect a fast past, average around 16/17mph but some "drafting" of cars has been known before!!

NOTE I will be leaving at 9:00am not 5 past, if you are late then please catch up.

Unfortunately I can't make it this Sunday but can definitely recommend it. You get to overtake the cars up the hills - and draft behind them comfortably on the flat. Plus there are loads of people waving and cheering and looking surprised to see cyclists in amongst the cars. Last year we just grinned and waved back.

Nice cup of tea and a sandwich on the sea front then a Paul Tunnell magical mystery tour for the return journey.

Last year a newbie blew big-time coming back but Paul and I towed him to a garage and fed him mars bars and all was well.

rob, sounds like the shortcut you took us on to ditchling , managed a little ride on the trainer yesterday so the knees on the mend, cant wait for wednesday ride soon
