Next club run

Postby Jim B » Mon Nov 07, 2005 6:30 pm

Anyone any plans for the next club run?
Ians' attempt at spicing it up with some different routes is a good idea, but I think we need to get the groups organised better so we don't have 40 riders in one group causing traffic chaos.
I'm happy to make up a route somewhere, but I can't say I'm an expert of the Surrey,Suffolk,Kent roads so you'll have to put up with what you get.

Jim, hopefully knowledge of Surrey, Kent and Suffolk roads won't be needed....if they are, I won't be on the ride!

I'm not even sure I'm out this Saturday but it's always nice to go and watch the annual festival of torture that is the Ballbuster atop Box Hill. I'm not doing it this year, for obvious reasons (an injury, not "being fat"!!) but want to go along to encourage those that are taking part.

Any ACCers doing it this year???

I've been out of action for a few weeks already, and the doctor says I can't do any sport until early December.
I like a festival as much as the next person, including torture festivals ! So am a bit disappointed I can't parttake.

Won't be able to make it down to watch this w/e, David, but I will give the competitors a thought as they "fly" up Box Hill for the nth time !

Will also look forward to some alternative club runs once I'm on my bike again - Sussex, Suffolk, what the hell - I'll just be happy to hang onto the wheel in front of me !

Just remember that the ballbuster duathlon is on this weekend so it is probably best to keep away from the area, this year i have heard there are some local road closures- there may have been in previous years-so expect local traffic chaos.

Ian,
you out on saturday?
Got any ideas or just doing the normal route?
Interest on the forum at doing something different seems to be completely underwhelming!
I'm happy to go a bit further, but at a steady pace with a cafe stop. I just think we need to keep the group size reasonable for safety's sake.

Hello Chaps,

I hope to be out on Saturday. I will have my 1 hour warm up and then happy to do a route with you guys. If we can end up with a route that ends up closish to EG that would be good for me else I will be knackered and home very late and the misses will go bonkers.

Cheers

I am not out on saturday as i am away in london overnight and wont be home till the afternoon.
Dont worry about the lack of support for your ride as this often happens, last year i arranged a L2B and back, got about 6 replies- but 40 riders turned up!
As long as you go steady and keep it that way your fellow riders will be happy.
Last week i had about 25 riders do a different route, more hilly than the normal ride- approx 2 hrs 20 to the cafe!
How about the westerham run? 2 cafes to chose from, go over farthing downs, up thru bletchingley, lingfield, crowhurst, edenbridge, crockham hill, westerham, then back thru to warlingham/woldingham and purely- gotta be about 90k the way i go and some nice hills as well.
