[quote="Alex S"]crime number was 4001421/10, I don't know how that helps though.
I work in a bike shop that often has stolen bike brought in (how much is this worth mister?) and i also have a police radio (paints a picture of the world we live in!) so if we see a bike we know is stolen then we can radio it through and the police react. If we have a crime ref then we can be more specific.
And this does work, i have been involved in 2 recoveries, one was a £800 black GT mtb and one was a £200 WTP BMX, the second one was particularly rewarding as the kid got his bmx back!
Its always worth quoting the crime ref no as it adds weight to your contact to the police- "this fellas here and hes done it before" or "the person wanted for CRXXX is here with the item (usually a card or vouchers in my work!)"
Plus the police are usually quick to respond to a detectable case.
