Being serious for a moment  . What about just having a veterans' league along the lines of what I've outlined already for the scratch and handicap i.e. done on points for position rather than time?? Position determined by how much age standard is beaten by. Just award a trophy and some medals at the end of the season. We wouldn't have to worry about Bletchingley being longer and hillier and it gives a coherence to the proposal which is meant to encourage participation and commitment to the ACC Club TT Series. I could add it to the proposal I've already written up.

BTW do I have to submit the proposal to the club secretary x number of weeks in advance of the next committee meeting (which is the 1st March someone said)???

your thoughts?

Jon :D

I expect Mr.H has it all in hand for the next meeting but I'll forward the post links to PVT to make sure they go on the next agenda.

Addiscombe CC Time Trial Leagues

 To encourage participation in the ACC TT series.
 To recognise and reward commitment and consistency over the season.

 There will be three leagues: scratch, handicap and veteran.
 The Leagues are open to ACC 1st claim members.
 All ACC riders riding a club TT score points towards Handicap and Scratch Leagues.
 Riders aged 40 and over score points towards the Veterans League. For the Veterans League placings are determined by riders’ time compared to VTTA age standards.
 Only rides in ACC Tuesday Club TT races and the ACC President’s 10 TT race count towards the League Table.
 Points awarded 30 pts for 1st place down to 1 pt for 30th.
 Non-members who ride do not affect position or points. For the purpose of the Leagues only, their rides are ignored.
 DNF is considered to come in last place and does score points, DNS does not.
 The best three rides in the Addiscombe CC TT series count toward the rider’s final points total.
 At the end of the season only riders that compete in at least two races with be included in the final official table.

 An ACC Club TT Series Leagues Secretary will be appointed responsible for collecting results and collating the league tables.
 Results and league tables will be published on the ACC Website.
 A trophy will be awarded for the champions of the scratch, handicap and veteran leagues.
 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the end of the season again for all three leagues.

 If points are tied at the end of the season, the fourth best ride is taken into consideration (if applicable), if still tied the fifth (again if applicable etc).
 If riders are tied and none have ridden more than three ACC TTs just their head-to-head rides are taken into consideration.

Thanks Andrew - this is the final proposal then that includes a veterans league as well as the scratch and handicap. Please pass on to relevant parties. Would I be expected to attend or can I leave it to you and Jon H??

I'm sure you'd be welcome, committee meetings are very exciting  , but your name can just be taken in vain and put forward as Competition Secretary without attendance :D .

I have just picked up this thread. Wow. I like the idea of some award for those who keep trying, never to be a "real" fast man, but continue to participate in the best sport ever.
Call it what you will but I would be only too happy to donate a trophy for this competition.
Just pm me and I will "do the business"
PS Two things:
Would be great to see Roy back at the timekeeper's countdown.
Ditto Jon CC
By the way, as George says, I am off to Greece tomorrow until 4th March, so If my offer gets a response I may not reply until early March.
Cheers all.
John.
