Torque wrench

Does anybody use the above? Just got some new bars and stem, and they have clearly marked torque settings next to the bolts. Normally I just go by "feel".

Cheers, Andrew. Does it allow for the extra pound-inch or so of torque due to where in the mole-grip's jaws the fastening bolt is being held?

my seatpost ALWAYS slips down when riding if i stick to the guideline torque using a torque meter.

Ive had rocking problems with headset when top-cap and stem are only tightened to the recommended torque.

The plastic cap on shimano hollowtech chainsets undoes itself on my bike if i stick to the recommended torque.

The right torque depends on a number of factors about your other set up and componentry - what material it is/amount of grease/spacers, so don't think you can just stick to the recommended torques and everything will be ok.

Thanks all. I'll do what I normally do: crank it up til I hear something crack, then back off a smidge. The fibres should hold everything together if the crack gets any bigger.

I use the same model torque wrench as Ivor plus "Finish Line Assembly Anti-Seize Lube" on the relevant metal parts. This seemed about the best value torque wrench without spending lots of £.
