No brakes!
As a club, we’ve managed to secure a booking of the London Olympic Velodrome. We’ve got the place to ourselves for 3 hours on the afternoon of 6th July. If you’ve not ridden the boards before or you want to turn a pedal on the site of Team GB’s historic 9 medals in 10 events, then read on.
The format we envisage for the afternoon is this: the coach can supervise up to 16 riders on the track at any one time. Last time we went on a velodrome trip (organised by the excellent Jeff Hewett) we had one 90 minute session for riders relatively new to track and one 90 minute session for riders who feel confident. This means that we can take up to 32 people.
Cost is expected to be around £25 plus shoe hire (around £5) if you don’t have Look Keo cleats (which I don’t). If you’ve not ridden track before it’s initially a bit scary but ultimately a lot of fun.
If you’re interested, please drop a line to general@addiscombe.org with a brief description of your track experience if you’ve not told me before. We’ll only be considering members who have fulfilled their marshalling duty.
Update: I need your height and shoe size.
To get you in the mood, here’s some other people having a ride on this track.
