ACC Virtual Rides for Winter 2021/22
We’ll soon be starting up our virtual rides on Zwift again as winter approaches!
Virtual Time Trials will be at 7:00 pm every Wednesday between November and March. The format will be the same as last year, with 5 monthly competitions, each on a different course, with scratch, handicap, veterans and ladies events.
There will also be overall winners for the whole series in each event. Each course will be about 10 miles in length.
The calendar and courses for the series are available to ACC members in the Member’s Area of this website.
Virtual Club Runs will be on Sundays at 9.30 am. These will begin in December and run through until the end of February.
Once again, rides will be around 2 hours or 60kms in length. Stay for the whole ride, or just go as far as you want.
How do I get invited?
Over the last 2 years we have had over 60 riders take part in our virtual rides. Around half of that number have ridden regularly.
I have to create the invite lists from scratch, so to avoid spamming people who may not want to ride, I will only invite those who took part regularly last year.
If you want to be added as a returning rider, just message me (Del Cobb) via the ACC Facebook group and I’ll add you back in.
If you’re a new rider who is interested in taking part, you can contact us by email at virtualrides@addiscombe.org
It looks like Zwift are finally going to sort out their Club functionality, so the method of joining is likely to change during this winter.
We are being promised that we will be able to create an ACC club on Zwift and produce a calendar of races that any ACC member can join.
As soon as this is live, I’ll create that club and we can switch over.
And finally a vote of thanks to Jonathan Pontin!
Since we began the Virtual Time Trials nearly 2 years ago, Jonathan has produced our results every week for each event.
Time pressures mean that Jonathan has had to step down this year. I’d like to thank Jonathan for his hard work and support – without him the Virtual TTs would not have worked as well as they did!
The good news is that Jonathan is training up Andy Knight to take on this important role!
