Appendix B – General Secretary’s Report
This year, 13 of our racing members have scored points in BC races taking Addiscombe to 9th place in the regional club rankings.
In 2018, we set out to promote our normal calendar of open events. Road races were affected by the condition of courses after the cold spell early in the year. Time trials were affected by the falling numbers of entrants – something that is a country-wide problem, not just in our district.
In 2019, we will continue with the programme of events for club members. The evening TT series will be promoted as usual. The Bletchingly course has been re-surfaced so we will be able to use this for our inter-club events against Redhill and Norwood Paragon
The club run continues strongly with a variety of rides available. Thanks to the club captain and VCs for keeping this going.
Unfortunately, we have been unable to re-start our youth coaching sessions. If we could get some more volunteers to run this then there is ample support available from British Cycling and Croydon Council. The club is willing to pay for training for people who are prepared to commit to running these sessions.
This year I have proposed moving the commit meetings to a regular schedule of the third Monday in odd-numbered months. Much of the business we do can be conducted by telephone or email. I hope that this meets with the AGM’s approval.
