Crawley Wheelers Sporting TT – write up by Jonathan Pontin
First real life TT of 2021 was the Crawley Wheelers 41.6 mile sporting event yesterday (Friday 2ndApril).
Starting in Handcross you descend for 5 miles, do a nice loop on the flatish roads to the south then climb for 5 miles back up to the finish.
With seven ACC riders on the start list it was a good chance to see who’s lockdown training has gone well and who is in trouble.
With the HQ based in a carpark and it being 3 degrees it was a cold start and took me a good 5 miles to get into my rhythm but eventually I got there for the flatter portion of the circuit.
Was overtaken by a few riders, including ACCs Rob Drake, but the main goal was not to be caught by Simon.
The final 2 mile drag too the line was hellish, but was glad to get there before my younger brother.
Not an amazing time, but felt good to blow away the cobwebs and get back into the swing of racing again.
Well done all the ACC riders, and fastest ACC Marek who placed 10th overall with 1:39:52.
