CRIKEY!!

Your VO2 max in nearly incredible...

Thought I remembered seeing this somewhere. This peice below is taken From http://www.lancearmstrong.com

Just what is VO2?
"OK, I know VO2 max is important - I just don't know what it is!" No worries, here's what's what: your VO2 max measures the volume of oxygen your body can consume while exercising at max capacity (or aerobic fitness). So "VO2 max" is the maximum amount of oxygen, expressed in milliliters, you can use in one minute, per kilogram of bodyweight. Most charts have anything above 50-60 as "high" - Lance is an 83.8...

So TT you should really kick some tail at Sandown....And maybe the Tour De France!! You should at least be a contender :D

Is a high Vo2 Max mainly due to genetics but can be improved through training?

Anyone know what happened at Sandown today. Did any ACC riders race, if so where did they come.

Also, what was the exhibition like, any nice goodies on show?

TT went well.
He looked strong but with no top end training, found it hard to keep up with the two elites (justin Hoy & a VC prestiege rider).
It was a points score race with sprints every lap. He managed 4 thirds and a second.

Not bad for a whippet with a bum full of dynomite!
He may have done a little better if he hadn't of sat behind the Evan's girls for 3 laps with a big smile on his face

Vo2 max is genetically related. Some people have the capability to produce high O2 absorption.

Scientists have found that a high Maximal Lactic steady state is more important than a high Vo2 max.
Also, your lactic threshold should be around 70% of your Vo2 if you wish to be classified as an 'Elite Athlete'

A maximum power output reading is also necessary as this directly relates to your tolerence of lactic acid above your Lactic threshold. A max. power output is measured on the average power generated in the last minute before failure.

These test's can be done at the Uni of Surrey, Roehampton campus.
Test cost £200 + VAT
The results are invaluable to anyone who's serious about improving as an athlete.

Those tests sound pretty expensive, but I imagine it is quite interesting to get tested properly. What kind of things does the test give. I mean does it tell your strengths and weaknesses, areas you can work on and areas that you should develop to the full etc.

Do they have a web site which gives details etc, have you been through it if so what did it do to help you?

if you can find someway of becoming a guinea pig, the tests become free!

marco once posted a request for cyclists to take part in a test which would of told me some interesting things like this.

at the very last moment i bottled it and cancelled on the guy, the thought of having a piece(very small) of muscle cut out my leg and leaving me off the bike for a while wasnt too appealing!
