MTB ride on Sunday from East Croydon

Postby higg » Thu Jun 10, 2010 12:50 pm

Anybody interested in a local MTB ride from East Croydon meeting at 10.00 ?

Route will head south through local trails and drop in for a bit of spectating (and hopefully some cake) at a charity hillclimb in Caterham.

If you interested post here so I have an idea as who's turning up.

Aodan.

Sorry, new to the club and finding it tricky navigating the site. What time is the Mtb meet at East Croydon. I also have a race bike and would like to go on a club run but can't seem to fine one this weekend? Also is there a midweek evening meet? Peter

I think as the 1st post says the MTB run at east Croydon is at 1000. Although it doesn't seem to be confirmed.

There is a club run every Saturday. Meet at Coulsdon south station at 0900.
Mid week runs aren't necessary regular but you will always find postings on the web about them by those that organise them. Check regularly.

Caution: People turning up at the advertised time are forgiven for thinking there are only three members of ACC. 09.20 is plenty of time to catch the ACC train

Marco picked a fairly direct route from East Croydon to get us to Caterham on time. Some of us signed on while the others went to the top to spectate. We met Hal and Sylv waiting at the start both looking like they meant business. There was a queueing system for the start which was quite relaxed and socialable in the sunshine. So much so that by the time I got to the front it was a bit of a shock to hear 3, 2, 1 BUZZZZ. With no recce of the hill and cold legs it seemed a lot longer than the 2 minutes it actually took. I was expecting to see the finish around every corner but there were just more people shouting "Keep going, You're almost there ....". Argh.

Hal ad Sylv came up soon after at a rate of knots and showed us how it should be done, taking 1st and 3rd places for Addiscombe. Well done guys.

The return home was much more relaxed, we did get tempted by the sign for teas at the old norman church in Farleigh but had arrived too early, we waited for a few minutes and decided to carry on home and pick up snacks at a petrol station on the way. A quick mess about in Shirley Hils and Lloyd Park dropped us back at East Croydon after a thoroughly enjoyable day.
