If you look up Bec HC on Strava you can see Jack's time (I think he's 17th at the moment) .

Is it de rigueur to make a noise with pots + spoons? Should I bring the klaxon?

im 66kg curretly and can see my heart beating through my ribs so not feeling too fat..
I had a little recce run yesterday (as you've seen) and was pleasantly surprised.I think ill be lucky to pull a 2:40 on the day to be honest. Do you think im up to it?
Im sure the quiet bit of the hill wont last long this year with the crowds (weather depending)
also im not sure how i feel about people getting full access to 'the pain face'.
part of the joy of breaking away on a climb is that no one 'can see you purple frothing at the mouth but that's not the case here..

Will i set off first with the plebs? and then the 'big dogs' last?
oh and by the way i don't have a compact.
53/39... dicing with the devil himself.. i do have a 30 something on the back so should be fine.
Out the saddle the whole way? i recon so.. (i'll look a right tart seated)
i'll be doing some more reps Sunday morning (if anyone wants to come and laugh)
I wanted to do Alan's ride but should be suffering at 30% instead. so hey ho..

39s fine, I'm rubbish at hill climbs but do it in 39x21 then 23 then down to the 26 as the legs start to fall off . I'm no spinner though.

I was going to take a gentle ride out in the morning to somewhere nearby for lunch (reptile zoo) but I've finally caught the office cold and feel rubbish

Well, that was a lot of fun. Some cracking performances by ACC riders.

That was good fun , tandems on hill climbs are a bit nuts, the other pairing beat us, but despite not having raced for a while used to be a fast pairing so no surprise. We hadn't sat on it together since last year either but did 3:42.4 and we weren't slowest .

Jack Pullar won for a third successive year with a brilliant ride, 1:49.3, 4 seconds clear of joint second place. Millar was 21st in 2:03.8, fair play as short all out efforts up very steep hills aren't exactly his forte and unlike a lot of pros who would treat their last race as a bit of a ponce about waving affair he gave it his lot. Very friendly and chatting to folk beforehand and after, my mum was impressed .

Brilliant event, and well done Tony Gibb for continual commentary all afternoon bigging up and name checking every rider up the hill...even if I was Adrian to start with .

Excellent by Ashley and Jack. Also Simon with his foot held on by parcel tape.

Interesting that both the Catford and the Bec sold out 150 places. I wonder if there's scope for another HC on the calendar .... Mind you, if the weather had been like last year, I reckon there would've certainly been far more DNSes for the Catford anyway.

Great turn out, haven't seen such a crowd in many a year. Congratulations to all ACC who took part. Thought Ash may have broken 2 minutes, great ride all the same. Well done to Tom for doubling up and maybe Paul and Ashley , can go for the tandem record next year. At least you had a stronger chain this year.
Had a chat with DM at the end and got my book signed. he had to for everyone and I will definitely miss him next year.
