Hello, thanks to all those that have volunteered to help Addiscombe run the event on the 23rd August. Details are below. I will arrive at HQ for 8am and take out the signage for the event. I will arrange for tea, coffee and some cakes (will buy the day before) and put those in the hall. If all others could arrive at 8.30am at the HQ, I will hopefully be back to be able to help you congregate, but if I am not, could you all just get together in the hall or just at the front and pick up a high viz vest and flag in preparation.

When I get back to the HQ we can then work out who will be on which corner, some corners will require 2 people some will require 3 people. For those that have not marshalled before we will give you clear instructions on how to help marshall the corners for the riders to give them the best possible chance of getting around safely. A bit more information from SERRL below, if someone would like to drive their car as one of the lead cars could they also let me know, they will receive petrol money for doing this:

1/2 volunteers must arrive at HQ, Bells Yew Green Village Hall, post code TN3 9BB, at 8am to take the road signage out onto the course and help with the set up of the start/finish line.

You will need 11 marshals, lead car 1 & 2, neutral support and some one to run the tea bar and bring along the cakes and goodies! All other marshals should arrive at HQ by 8.30 leaving enough time to have a briefing a get out onto the course prior to race start. Drivers should arrive around 8.45.. They should rig up their vehicles and attend the driver's briefing headed by the Chief Commissaire around 9.15. If any of your drivers are BC members and would like to be added to the vehicle registration form for insurance purposes whilst driving around the course during race time, please provide the following information: name dob, BC membership number, make, model and registration of vehicle. People carriers are only allowed as neutral support.

Kind regards

Marek....

Is there plenty of parking at the place for my car - Its a bit far to cycle that early in the morning. I looked on Street View, but I can't figure out where the Village Hall is

I can give rides from Coulsdon/Purley (or alternatively go with someone else).

Yes, you can park at Frant Station which is across the road from the HQ.

Yes I looked on Street View too and couldn't see anything. The post code gives you a cul de sac which can't be right either. Google replaces the location as Eridge Village Hall which now I have read Marek's r comment that can't be the right place to go.[attachment=0]

Guys, sorry not that clear. I can see the issue. The hall is on Bayham Road. You can either park at Frant Train Station and walk up or park on the village hall which is literally about 100 yards up the road from the station car park if you pass the station with it on your right.

Any issues ping me a message.

Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow morning, lets hope it is a scorcher like today, bring the sun oil.

Cheers

Thank you to everyone who turned up to help today for the SERRL race. The race started off in nice warm weather, unfortunately a couple of laps into the race the heavens opened and everyone got a bit damp but spirits didn't seem to be too dampened and we got to see some pretty fast guys racing. A break formed with a couple of laps to go of three fast looking riders that worked really hard. I thought they were going to stay away as they had close to a minute gap at one point. With one lap to go the peleton got its act together and chased hard and on the final climb the three escapees were caught and some young lad took the win.

We had a couple of extra helpers from Big Foot Racing team who drove one of the lead cars and the neutral service and that gave us a full quota of helpers.

My wife and daughters also helped out, they spent most of Saturday making a 6 layered cake which was ridiculously big, but managed to sell most of it.

All marshals have received their £5 reward and their exclusive ACC cap which they will no doubt wear with pride on the next club run.

Thanks again everyone.

Cheers

Well organised event as usual. Well done, Marek (and family). Please pass on the thanks of the club to you your wife and daughters. Many of us have long-suffering family members who help support the club events, one way or another.
