Just reporting on my accident on this ride - also to boost up the number of my postings

I was chatting and looked up pointing at something. With only one hand on the handle bar, bike hit a drain hole and next thing I was on the road doing a double tumble. And poor Simon who was on my wheel also suffered an unavoidable fall as a consequence. Sorry Simon - I hope you are ok...and thanks for helping me straighten the crooked gear shifter after that.
Funny when the mishap happened, I could see myself rolling on the road but no thought (like do this or try that to lessen the impact) ran through my mind.
Back home (after deciding not to do Boxhill and push my luck), long shower and inventory of damage -
grazed left knee and left elbow.
grazed right shoulder blade and inner right thigh (no idea how that could happen!)
A small graze on my right cheekbone (no idea how that happened either)
Swollen left malleolus (bony protuberance on the side of the ankle). I must have taken a fair knock there. I am hobbling now but should be OK after 24 hours, I'd say
tenderness on right side of my back where I had my house keys in the back pocket (I probably landed on the keys ...which damaged my brand new addiscombe jersey.Damn! One of keys put a hole through the fabric. On second thought, I should be grateful that key did not go the other way!!)
Apart from that, enjoyable sunday ride. Apologies for slowing the group on the ascents (but nothing new there for me).
Lesson for me - keep eyes on the road and hands on the handle bar!!!
But like the terminator, I'll be back
