Canondale v Canyon

Postby Toks » Sat Oct 03, 2015 9:35 am

Hey guys, long time. After nearly 4 years of riding Titanium I've decided to splash out and get a lightweight carbon machine. Ironically the 8-10 races i do each year despite being one of the skinnier guys in the bunch I reckon I ride a fairly heavy bike (8.3kg) No more!! I'm 50 and I need an advantage in this lumpier/hillier races - e.g. cumill..I've narrowed it down to Canyon Ultimate SLX 9.0 SL or Canondale Super evo six hi mod dura ace 2. Both the price of an decent 2nd hand small car. Yikes!!
Your opinions please. I will buy a Canyon if I have to but they're getting way too popular just like the ubiquitous Cervelos did a few years back. Thanks

Hi Toks,

Out of those 2 I would go for the super six but that may be because I always wanted one.

I would go aero if I was you. There's plenty to pick from and there be will some bargains on ebay soon.

I bought this for £2200:

Thanks for chipping in Paul. I'm leaning towards a canondale.I really wanted to get quite a light machine and Im not sure if you can genuinely tick the aero box at the same time without spending North of £4000.Anyway I'm not buying the machine for a couple of months yet so we'll see. Marek has a Canyon so maybe he'll let me know what he thinks. I won't make the 'drink up' but big congrats to you and Team Addiscombe its been a good year. I hope to join you for more events next year. By the way my email has changed. Its toksadesanya@yahoo.com That probably why I haven't replied to any emails this year. :D

Don't forget you're not allowed to go lighter than 6.8kg for a race bike.

I have a Canyon Ultimate SLX and it is light and it rides ok. They use them in the Tour de France so they must be ok right????

I don't have Cannondale so I cannot compare.

Cheers

Marek....

Nice one Paul. Seeing as you have both a Canyon and the Cervelo what are the main differences in your experiences??
By the way if my bid for a new like weight Machine doesn't come thru I may take you up on the offer next week. By the way when is the next ACC training camp on foreign soil taking place?

The main difference is that one is Red and one is Black. I prefer the S3. I do believe aero bikes are faster but it maybe because the frame is smaller and im lower at the front.

Ill let you know when I have the dates for the training camp - cant be missed :)

Ok cool, I'm guessing the S3 is great on hills too. Someone pointed me in the direction of Scott Addict Team Edition so I'm getting a bit confused. I'm guessing they're all a much of a muchness... Cool look forward to news on the training camp :)
