Mark Leedham - tribute ride Saturday 16th April

I know many of you will have seen this sad news from the Addiscombe CC facebook site but I appreciate not everyone is on FB.

Marks son, Will, posted the message below:
I'm very sad to let you know that my dad Mark Leedham passed away quite suddenly last week.
He had a form of cancer which had remained undiagnosed, but it gives us comfort to know he was out on his bike just a few days before being taken into hospital.
He was incredibly fond of the club and I'm happy to have ridden with you myself a few times.
We will be holding a funeral at 10:45 on Tuesday the 26th of April at the Croydon crematorium on Mitcham Road, CR9 3AT. The South London Harriers have kindly agreed to let us use their club house in Coulsdon for the reception afterwards.
We welcome any Addiscome riders who would like to attend. I think it would mean a lot to him to know you were thinking of him.

As a tribute to Mark we want to make this Saturdays ride in memory of him with as many as possible riding in ACC tops with black armbands. Mark was a keen supporter of the alternative rides too and as such we will be able to supply some black armbands in the morning. We hope to plan an alternative ride going past or close to Tanhouse so as many of us as possible can ride together.

This is such sad news, and so young. My thought are with his family.

Mark was an excellent club man that I feel proud to have known. Supporting and promoting cycling for Addiscombe and wider afield (helping at the Olympics and representing the club at regional league organisation).

He was always one of the first people to volunteer to help at any promotion and promoted the track and cyclo cross for ACC for years. It is thanks to people like Mark that cycling is flourishing and that grass roots cycling is able to promote events. I know he would have been out on Sunday morning on a roundabout and it will be sad to race and not hear his shout of encouragement. I may be in different colours now but I'll be doing my best for you Mark.

Addiscombe Cycling Club is a poorer place for this sad loss.
