Clubrun

This week was in my opinion one of the best club runs we have had for a long time. I went with the Training group and half way along we split into two groups, those feeling strong went for the extended dual carriageway route.

Throughout the whole route different people took turns on the front and everyone seemed as though they were working hard. We kept up a good pace average at Charlwood was around 35kph.

On the dual carriageway it didn't go too mad and we managed to get a good through and off going. As we came up to Charlwood we all jossled for position and had an excellent sprint. I went too early, as usual, but with my height and all I am just practicing to be Pettacis lead out man, obviuosly I was not actually trying to win the sprint, I am a team player and all.

In the cafe there were loads of new faces coming in from the intermediate group. In fact there were so many US Postal Team Jerseys in the cafe I was beginning to think Lance would walk in at some point.

Way back from Charlwood I stayed near the back and helped a newbee find his way. Once he was on the right track I caught back up with the Peleton. Decided I wanted to sit on the front and went past the group, as I was going quite well I left the peleton behind for about 30secs before the fast group caught me up and we raced back to Redhill. I think this was the fastest we have gone back to Redhill and it was excellent fun.

Usual mad dash up from Merstham, a few of us really hammered down into Coulsdon. One rider who I have only seen a couple of times riding a carbon handle barred bike and with huge legs led us down the dual carriageway, we must have been going around 55kph to 60kph down to CSS. Superb fun, this guy oculd certainly keep a good pace.

With the weather so good I have to admit it was hard to drag myself home.

Bring on next week and lets hope the weather holds up for just a little longer.

Cheers
