Can I eat to much fruit?

Postby Climber » Tue Nov 04, 2003 1:19 pm

With all this talk about reducing sugar intake to avoid colds, I was wondering if this also includes natural sugars found in fruit?

The reason I ask is that I eat on average 8 to 12 pieces of fruit per day.

Just to pick you up on your English, I have noticed a couple of times in your posts that you use to, when you should be using too.

Too much fruit

not

to much fruit.

To now answer your question, I doubt that eating too much fruit is going to do you any harm.

"To now answer" a somewhat controversial statement in a grammar lecture!

I apologise it should have read:

Though shalt now respond to thy query, I sincerely doubt your habitual fruit eating will lead thy into any foreseen drama. (with the exception of visiting the lav every 5)

Marco, those Fruit eaters on that web site literally sound like they are a bunch of fruit cakes.

Marco,
Just ask Ramon what it is like to train 4 hours a day 6 days a week with someone that eats as much fruit as I do.

It's very rare that I drop him, even up hills!

He suggests that maybe that's why I climb so fast.......

About the sugar and fruit thing:

Some people?s bodies have an adverse reaction to sugar in all its forms. This can range from a suppressed immune system to depression .For these people even natural sugars, such as those found in fruit ,can be dangerous or problematic.

There is some interesting stuff on blood sugar here: http://www.radiantrecovery.com/bloodsugar.html and you can do a simple questionnaire test here:http://www.radiantrecovery.com/sensitive.html to see if you are sugar sensitive

I'm just pleased Climber didn't put a comma after much in his original post.

Is it too late to point out another grammatical boo-boo of Climber's? "Gee, thank's (sic) for the tip." No apostrophe needed.

I don't think one can ever be too pedantic.

How about we make a deal?
You teach me how to spell and i'll teach you how to ride a bike.
You lot sure need the help looking at the results section.

Oh by the way, you're all welcome to come out and join me at Hillingdon and ride in a real race. It's a little different to the Saturday club run which you all THINK is a race!

I'm a cyclist, pure and simple.

I am.
I talk a good sprint though, plus I have all the gear and no idea.

Sometimes, I like to tell riders who are way better than me how I think they should train and race.

Also, I like criticising people for trying to use this forum to gain useful information that MAY help them become a better cyclist.

I'd just rather use it to slag people off about their spelling and grammar!

I wish I knew how to spell sarcasm

Sounds like 5 portions a day is about right according to most things that I have read.

Cheers
