nat. womens road race with i-team 75km

Tamar, Maria, Hannah and myself were in the race.
There was a ( pretty much) full field of 60 riders, varying from elite all the way down to 4ths with several juniors out there as well.
As a 4th cat riding in my second race of the year and my first open road race i have to say that it was a waste of my time and effort for nothing but pain all the way and no result of any consequence. I havent trained for any road racing at all, just short hard track riding so I suffered from the start with the first climb. It got worse after i lost Marias wheel and ended up riding on my own as one by one the people behind me dropped out of the race.
my mission for the day was to complete the race and use it as training, which i did. so at least I achieved something.
I must have some sort of attention deficite disorder as by the 2nd lap i was bored and resorted to humming, telling jokes to myself and taking in the view from the cliff top road.
I think I will stick to track and circuits, this road racing lark, far too longwinded for me.

Tamar and Maria were looking fairly strong, and I think Tamar was a bit disappointed with her result, but its still very early season so unless you are elite and have world cups to ride then I wouldnt be too bothered about it yet.

Angela Hunter (elite) took the line in a close sprint finish with Lorna Webb (elite) and Nikki Harris a Junior no less in 3rd.

Marshal Thomas the National Junior squad coach was there as well to check out the up coming talent.
