I think if there is a group of fairly keen riders, however small it is, it would be useful to look at the racing calendar at the start of the season/throughout it together and decide which events to go for. That would definitely be useful for newcomers like me who don't really know what the racing options are and would much rather got to events where other Addiscombe riders will be. Obviously we might not be able to meet together too often so we should probably use the forum or group e-mails to discuss. Once we've made a name for ourselves at races, which Chloe is clearly already mastering, I'm sure we'll get more people. And when any rowers move to London I'll nab them for our team...

Clare, you should do the Handicaps on Thursday night. Check out the calendar on www.surreyleague.co.uk

They will set you off with the first group which you can then drop and TT to victory. They are great fun.

Cheers

Also there are a load of women's races on at Dunsfold on a Tuesday night. Its quite a long way away, and it's pan flat and windy, but it can be dead exciting.

Check ou the british cycling website in 'event' and remember to refine your search to Road Racing for the dates, or let me know when you are free and I can look up in the handbook to see what is on

I'm the last one to sprinkle rain on anyone's parade Clare but in my experience the 'lets get organised and choose some races to enter approach' seems to be very difficult to do in this club. What does seem to work well is if you...
1. Choose an event
2. Put it in the racing section
3. Bump it up as the event approaches, if there hasn't been any response.

Now's here' what ACC is really brilliant at. Giving lots of enthusiastic support after an event to both newbies and experienced riders a like. :D :D :D :D
PS So don't wait around for organised groups to form - just go ahead and select and event and you'll get lots of ACC love :D

My mistake, there are no women's races at Dunsfold, but you can race there with the 4th cat blokes, just no points. It's good speed training though, as Chloe now understands :shock:

So can I assume no-one wants me to organise anything woman specific such as chain gang, training, race training etc?

Unless you're going to include some men who are roughly around the same fitness levels, or non ACC women its going to be a very small group

[color=#FF00BF]Calling all women!!!!!

The club 10's start on the 12 May. They are an ideal opportunity to come and have a go at a Time Trial. They start from North Holmwood (A24) and the turn around point is at the 2nd roundabout (is that Capel?). You don't need a time trial bike or anything flash!!! So if you've never had a go and have always fancied it - nows the time to give it a go!!!!

Don't know if this would become of any interest, sort of depends what's in it and whether it's any good I suppose.
