Old Ports Crowhurst TT report Thursday 3rd June 2021 by Marek Siwicki
2nd race on this course this week, this one hosted by Old Portilians. A few familiar faces including Keith Lea from Paceline.
After much debate, or maybe it was more pleading by Keith, he went off last with me just ahead of him.
In the back of my mind this meant that Keith was gonna be chasing me, and knowing what a competitive soul he is, it stuck in my head that I better push hard.
I really gave it some beans, not much wind this evening, maybe a slight headwind on the long straight from the Brickmakers Arms to the Red Barn. Slight tailwind through the back section as go through bumpy Crowhurst and up the hill.
Caught up with a lot of the earlier riders towards the end of the second lap, maybe the sight of the other riders made me push even harder. As I crested the final Church climb I glanced the watch and could see that I was on for a fast one so buried it to the finish.
Properly empty at the end. A pb for me by 28 seconds over the pb I had set on Tuesday. Super pleased with a time of 28:33.
Cramped up a bit on the way home, not had that before, think it shows I emptied the tank tonight.
