Time Trial Race Report by Marek Siwicki
East Sussex Cycling Association – 25 Mile Time Trial – Course G25/89
Chris Carney and I both rocked up for the 25 mile course starting down close to Uckfield.
Quite a windy morning, out on the course it seemed to be a crosswind most of the time so not a great deal of benefit.
I pushed on pretty hard at the beginning and before long caught my 2 minute man, turned out he had a bit of a chain problem. At about 10 miles I caught Chris who was my minute man.
The course was not that familiar for either of us, Chris later told me he had taken a 20 second or so detour as he got it a bit wrong. I managed to stay on course but it definitely slowed me a bit as was never 100 percent sure of the turns at the various roundabouts.
On way back at about 30km I was starting to feel the effort a bit, but into the last couple of km, with the finish not far off, I managed to pull my power back up a bit.
Only my second 25 miler and I did a pb of 56:01. Chris did a 58:54 and was very pleased to get well inside the hour.
The winner was Mark Smith from Crawley Wheelers with an astounding time of 52:02.
