During the first Coronavirus lockdown of 2020, Addiscombe CC began a programme of virtual rides on Zwift. These included Saturday club runs and Wednesday evening time trials.
Both programmes were successful in providing a focus for club activity at a difficult time.
The Virtual Club Runs regularly had 25-30 people taking part, with people talking to each other during the ride via the ACC Discord server.
We ended the rides when Coronavirus restrictions were lifted, as we all like riding outside, rather than in our sheds, outhouses, garages, studies, conservatories or other rooms in our houses.
But the Virtual Club Runs were popular, so we decided to reintroduce them in the winter months, when the weather isn’t as good and daylight hours are shorter. They take place on Sunday mornings at 09:30 and run from the beginning of November through to the end of March.
The Virtual Club Runs are usually around 60kms and sit alongside our Saturday Club Run. They are a seasonal alternative and not a replacement for our outdoor rides. You’ll find an equally warm welcome either online or in real life.
Virtual Club Run details will be posted weekly on this website and also on the ACC Facebook page.
