Its now just two-week?s until the ?Agreeable? track event of the season,
ADDISCOMBE CYCLING CLUB
CLUB TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS 2003
on Sunday 3rd August
at Herne Hill Velodrome, Burbage Road, SE24.
First race at 2.00pm.
Just to remind Agreeables what we have done. Four local clubs, Addiscombe CC, Bec CC, Brixton CC and De Laune CC have pooled resources to stage our own club track championships. It will be the first time for a number of years that we have had sufficient trackies to run such an event.
On the day there will be three Addiscombe events, (maybe four championships) a two-lap sprint, a 4k Team Pursuit and a 5-mile scratch race. The reason there may be four championships is that there is a ladies sprint trophy but at this point I have only one lady entrant.
Each club will stage its own races, with the exception of the final race of the day, the 5-mile scratch, where all riders will be on the track together. So for the Addiscombe sprints and team pursuit there will only be Addiscombe riders on the track.
The Races
2-lap Sprint ? these will be run in heats of 4/5 riders, with the first two in each heat going through to the next round until we get to 4 riders for the final.
Wouldn?t it be just fantastic if we could stage a separate woman?s final? So come on ladies, don?t make Tamar compete with the men.
4k Team Pursuit ? teams will consist of 4 riders and the team time will be that of the third member of the team to cross the finish line. There is a club record for this event and hopefully at least one of the teams will attempt to set a new record on the day. So come along and give them your support.
We can use 4 stations on the track for this event, so unless there are more than 4 teams, this will probably be a single race.
5-mile Scratch (20-laps) ? the final event of the day. All riders will be on the track together. The judges will sort out which rider from each club crosses the line first.
The preliminaries have all but been taken care of and we have begun the countdown to what will be a fantastic day.
Insurance has been arranged and bikes are available for hire (@ £2.50) on the day. The programme begins at 2.00pm and will probably finish just before 6.00pm.
The entry fee will be £3 per rider for the day (this includes the insurance).
Remember that racing will be taking place all afternoon i.e. the track will only be available for warm-up before 2.00pm. So please make your own arrangements, e.g. Turbo-trainer etc.
What I need now are NAMES, competitors and helpers. I need to have these by Wednesday at the latest so that I can allocate numbers, determine the riders for the various heats, publish a race programme and assign duties.
The names I have to date are as follows (if you are not in there and you want to compete, let me know by Wednesday ? the same applies if you know of someone who wants to take part and has not let me have a name).
